A Diagnosis Revealing Autism or Apraxia

The following post is intended to be a resource for those at any step of their journey or a family members journey revealing a diagnosis of autism and apraxia.

Here at SUNRISE Therapies, we know not one piece of advice fits for everyone, so take this information as a guideline, as it comes from our hearts in order to support you and your family every step of the way.

1. We are here to affirm you as a neurodivergent individual and family that you are WHOLE and WORTHY, just as you are, regardless of anything else!

2. We are here to help answer questions that are are in our wheelhouse. If we don’t have the answer, we will be transparent and let you know. We will guide you to who can answer that question or find the answer for you!

3. We are here to refer you or your loved one to other specialists or providers (i.e PTs, SLPs, music therapists, vision therapists, alternative communication options, feeding therapists, etc.) that can help to support your personal goals.

4. We are here to share our knowledge, expertise, resources, and handouts related to sensory processing, regulation, trauma, intentional motor and motor planning, and so much more in order for you to determine what supports best work for you or a loved ones journey.

5. Lastly, we are here to reassure you that you are never alone and that there are support groups, companionship, and allies that we can connect you and your loved one with!
